Information we collect

Details you give us

• Account information. If you create an account, we collect your name, email address, username and, if you add one, a profile photo.
• Sign-in with Google or another social account. If you sign in with Google (or another provider we offer, such as Facebook), that provider shares your name, email address and profile photo with us, with your permission. We do not receive your password for that account.
• Comments, ratings and reviews. When you comment on or rate a recipe, we collect the content you submit, the name you display, your email address, and the date and time. Your display name, comment and rating are public.
• Newsletter. If you subscribe, we collect your email address and, if you provide them, your name and preferences.
• Text messages. If you opt in to text messages, we collect your mobile phone number and a record of your consent.
• Messages to us. If you contact us, we keep your message and contact details so we can respond.

Information collected automatically

• Usage and device information. Like most websites, our servers and tools record information such as your IP address, browser type, device type, pages viewed, referring site and the date and time of your visit.
• Cookies and similar technologies. We use cookies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, understand how the Site is used, and, where applicable, show and measure ads. See "Cookies, analytics and advertising" below.
• Push notification subscriptions. If you allow browser notifications, your browser gives us a subscription identifier so we can send you notifications. We do not receive your name or contact details from this.

How we use information

• To run the Site and your account, including signing you in, saving your recipes and preferences, and showing your comments and ratings.
• To send the emails, notifications and texts you asked for, such as new recipes and weekly meal plans.
• To respond to your messages and provide support.
• To understand which recipes and features people use so we can improve the Site.
• To show and measure advertising that helps keep the Site free.
• To protect the Site and our users, including preventing spam, fraud and abuse, and to comply with the law.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information for money. We share information only as follows:

• Service providers that work on our behalf, such as web hosting, email newsletter delivery, push notification and text message delivery, analytics, spam protection and customer support. They may use your information only to provide services to us.
• Advertising partners, which may collect information through cookies and similar technologies on the Site to show and measure ads, as described below.
• Publicly, for content you choose to post, such as comments, ratings and your display name.
• For legal reasons, if required by law or to protect the rights, safety and property of our users, the public or us.
• In a business transfer, such as a merger or sale of the Site, in which case this Policy will continue to apply to your information.

Cookies, analytics and advertising

We may use analytics services (such as Google Analytics) to understand how visitors use the Site, and advertising networks to show ads. These partners may use cookies, pixels and similar technologies to collect information about your visits to this and other websites in order to provide and measure ads, including ads based on your interests. You can:

• Block or delete cookies in your browser settings (some Site features, like staying signed in, may not work without them).
• Opt out of interest-based advertising from many companies at optout.aboutads.info and optout.networkadvertising.org.
• Opt out of Google Analytics with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Where required by law, we will ask for your consent before using non-essential cookies, and we honor Global Privacy Control signals as a request to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for targeted advertising where applicable.

Your choices

• Emails: use the unsubscribe link in any email.
• Push notifications: turn them off in your browser's site settings.
• Text messages: reply STOP.
• Account: update your profile in your account settings, or ask us to delete your account and associated personal information by emailing support@mysecretcuisine.com. Comments you posted may be removed or anonymized.

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live (including California, New Jersey and other U.S. states, and the European Economic Area and United Kingdom), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your personal information, and to opt out of targeted advertising, the sale of personal information or certain profiling. To make a request, email support@mysecretcuisine.com. We will verify your request and respond within the time required by law, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights. If we deny your request, you may appeal by replying to our decision.

How long we keep information

We keep personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Site and the services you signed up for, and afterward only as long as needed to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes and enforce our agreements. Newsletter and text message records are kept until you unsubscribe, plus any period required to keep a record of your consent and opt-out.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS). No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children

The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Visitors outside the United States

The Site is operated in the United States, and your information will be processed and stored in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here with a new effective date, and if the changes are significant we will provide additional notice, such as by email or a notice on the Site.
